Description
Heavy Duty double-joint probshaft Defender
The Heavy Duty double-joint probshaft Defender was developed for high-load vehicles with a suspension lift. Particularly heavily loaden Land Rover Defender with modified suspensions for off-road applications or vehicles used in other extreme conditions show an increased wear of the universal joints and the sliding pieces. In order to keep this Land Rover Defender longer in use and to reduce repair costs, the 4Ward4x4 development and the engineers of one of the largest probshaft manufacturers in Europe have shown highest commitment to attain this.
Within six years, regular improvements and extensive durability tests were carried out.
During this time were tested:
3 Different manufacturers of crosses
2 Sizes of universal joints
2 Various sliding pieces
2 Various sleeves for the centered double joint
2 Various special fats for the centered double joint
1 Special modification for greasable length compensation
The ENGAGE4X4 Heavy Duty double-joint probshaft Defender easily compensates suspension lifts and entanglement differences and thus increases the durability of the vehicle.
Characteristics of ENGAGE4X4 double-joint probshaft Defender TD5 (VA):
- Universal joints with reinforced PU
- special thrust washers
- special needle bearings for better power transmission
- suitable for heavy-duty off-road vehicles
- Special grease in the centered double joint
- similar suspension increases and entanglement differences from
increased durability of the vehicle on the road - sealed sliding piece (length compensation 110 mm)
Especially with the Land Rover Defender TD4 models from the 2007 model year, minimal changes of the suspension can lead to strong vibrations of the powertrain. In its predecessors, the Land Rover Defender TD5 and the TDI, these problems were not so evident.
